Five Important Questions
About Enclosure Systems

Buying an enclosure isn't always an easy proposition. With so many manufacturers to choose from,it can be tough to get a true comparison. Answering these five questions can help you make your decision.

The 6200 Series cabinet form General Devices reflects many features that make our enclosures unique. From structural integrity to precision finishing, we believe that true value is best accomplished by offering rugged, dependable enclosures. Ask yourself these questions, then see for yourself.

1. How is the frame constructed?

The 6200 series uses a cornerpost and frame constructed of 12 gauge cold rolled steel. This is heavier than many cabinets, and for good reasons. The cornerpost creates the structural integrity for the entire cabinet. The result of this design -- strength and durability -- means the cabinet can withstand years of use in the toughest environments. It may also be moved when fully loaded, a feature that can save you time and money. Delicate equipment is protected in transit by the heavy duty construction, something a lesser construction may not offer.

TIG welded instead of bolted, our cornerposts offer tight construction and square corners. A multi-step finishing process includes grinding, buffing and painting for a furniture level finish. This process eliminates rough edges which can scratch or pinch cables, clothing and skin.

2. What kind of panels do I need?

Standard on the 6200 is a 12 gauge steel top designed to increase rigidity and stability, so fans and cooling devices may be mounted securely. The door is made of 16 gauge C.R.S. while the side panels are made of 18 gauge. This construction creates additional security and cost efficiency, plus easy maintenance access and installation of equipment in the cabinet. The lift-off side panels may also be bolted on for additional security. Frame hinge brackets are hidden behind the cabinet's trim, increasing the cabinet's aesthetic appearance when no door is used.

3. What if I need to move the cabinet?

With 12 gauge corner gussets, adding casters or levelers is a snap. Designed to accommodate a variety of caster sizes, the loaded 6200 cabinet can be moved easily. Add levelers and you've got a cabinet that is stable in virtually every circumstance. In addition, as you add equipment to the cabinet casters can be upgraded, maintaining mobility into the future.

4. What details are often overlooked?

it's easy to think that a cabinet is a cabinet is a cabinet. Compare our construction with other manufacturers and you'll find that is simply not true. Look further at the smaller details and you'll find the same. The 6200 is available in a number of water-based, environmentally friendly paint colors to match your needs. Shipping cartons are made of durable, 60% post-consumer waste, recycled cardboard. Cabinets are shipped pre-assembled, eliminating "knucklebusting" on your end.
